My Calibre library is 2 gigs. Do you really want me to upload 2 gigs? Is there an offline mode? How do I access my books if there isn't?

I would guess it's less popular because it costs money to post. On the other hand, so does Something Awful, and that site's significantly more popular than Metafilter.

I love Oliver's posts every year. His 2013 series got me into Haskell. I'd forgotten about this series until I saw it on my rss feed this morning. Very excited.

What happens when someone gets a hole-in-one and then doesn't buy anyone anything? Are they kicked out? Are they shunned? Seems like an easy solution: don't do things for people when you get a hole-in-one.

Deletionism[0] is what's killing Wikipedia. Gwern's page, In Defense of Inclusionism[1] has a good summary of both sides, and argues all of the points I would make. [0]: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deletion

Those kinds of "gimmick" openings don't work well once people know the game. It's like losing to the 4-turn checkmate: it only happens once or twice before you start looking for it and planning against it.
