I'm Italian, but I live in Germany and my language is set to English on all my devices and software. I haven't lived in Italy for about a decade, but I created my Google account when I was still in Italy. To this day YouTube will

I have a fairly keyboard centric workflow as well, and I didn't notice this until a few months ago I got a laptop with a US keyboard. Suddenly all those key bindings and symbols made sense, or at least were somewhat reachable without c

I can't speak for American schools, but in Germany we were taught little of what happened after 1945, so I wouldn't be surprised if the situation in the US would be similar. It's a shame, I would have loved to learn more abou

That calculation is correct if you assume that by "boil water" they mean to bring the water to 100°C (which is what you'd use a kettle for usually). However to go from liquid water to water vapor you need to add even more ene

Another factor might be that actually kidnapping and torturing someone is a very intense thing to do. I don't think a lot of people in the crypto space would have the stomach to do this (and that's a good thing!).

I guess all intervals are sets (they are a collection of numbers after all) but not all sets are intervals. Any mathematicians here to tell me if I just said something stupid?

Thank you for the clear explanation! Pretty sure we talked about open and closed intervals in my first week of undergrad but as a mechanical engineer we stopped there and never took a look at the more general concept.

Here's an interesting one: "this set is open, hence it is not closed". Apparently this is wrong, and R is both open and closed. Does anyone have a clear explanation as to why this is or what this means? I can't quite und

Does anyone with knowledge about volcanoes have context on how big this is? Clearly not small, but is this a once-in-a-decade or a once-in-a-lifetime size explosion? Are there any well-known eruptions to compare it to (e.g. Mount St. Helens

I'm wondering if they're subsidized, but the price in Germany at the supermarket hovers around 1€ each. I was really surprised to hear that these are not a thing in the US, any idea why?

Probably not the kind of law you were thinking of, but articles 1 (protecting human dignity) and 20 (enshrining the principles of democracy and rule of law) of the German constitution can not be changed or repealed.

As someone who's never been in an American school, what does algebra entail in the US curriculum usually? Is this the first time "solve for x" is introduced? How broad is the amount of teaching that happens in algebra?
