It highlights a general problem with LLMs, that they always jump to answering, whereas humans will often ask clarifying questions first.

This comment thread fully equating culture with economic system is probably part of the problem.

I'd like to see a change in voting system to make voting for smaller political parties more viable. My country did this in 1993[1] so I've seen to some extent that it works. A lot of other issues in the US seem downstream from tha

Not to say you need every keyboard in the world in your article, but the Freestyle Pro is also nice - it's essentially a Freestyle 2 but with mechanical keys.

I thought I would give the Treasury the benefit of the doubt for a moment and check whether they meant LLMs like we're all assuming, or possibly a more specific finance-focused type of AI. Like how we have specialist neural net AI help

The older OS's with their simple interfaces and clear buttons were easier for non-technical people as well. I'm not certain who they're really optimising for now, exactly... shareholders?

Yeah nothing I've put in the instructions like "ask me if you're not sure!" has ever had a noticeable effect. The only thing that works well is: - Ask question - Get answer - Go back and rewrite initial question to inclu

And in real life you'd get them to clarify a weird question like this before you answered. I wonder if LLMs have just been trained too much into always having to try and answer right away. Even for programming tasks, more clarifying qu

I'm certainly seeing a huge amount of AI-assisted writing recently (that "I Love Board Games" article posted here yesterday was a good example), but I think this one is human-written. Pangram shows it as human written also.

So much is AI written now. I can only hope that more people start to notice and react negatively so that others will be discouraged from doing it. People are using ChatGPT to write the most ridiculous things for them, sometimes only a few s

My only complaint re Stardew multiplayer is because the clock doesn't pause in menus, conversations etc like it does in singleplayer, the game gets a lot less relaxing and more rushed. I wish the day would just be 25% longer when playi

I'm on Fedora KDE so won't be much help to you, but there is a "Windows Rules" section in the system settings where I've added a rule that applies to all windows with the property "No titlebar and frame".

On Linux if you learn shortcuts for close/minimise/maximise as well, you can even remove window borders and title bars entirely. It's free screen real estate.

Thanks. I just thought, wouldn't it be interesting if the singularity didn't fix the 2038 problem. It's 3pm instead of 3am since I figure AI military drone swarms wouldn't care about timezones, and you can guess from t

I'm not sure about current LLM techniques leading us there. Current LLM-style systems seem like extremely powerful interpolation/search over human knowledge, but not engines of fundamentally new ideas, and it’s unclear how that tu

In a way it shows how poorly we have done over the years in general as programmers in making solved problems easily accessible instead of constantly reinventing the wheel. I don't know if AI is coming up with anything really novel (yet
