The "Kennedy" comment really made me giggle. I have some dislike for some trends of applications addining great amounts of white space. I have to agree that the interface, and the "Real Names" requirements were the two b

For example, on C#, I sometimes have to do: var value = (await (await startRequest()).GetBody()).Root; While the Rust syntax would make this a little more clear, I do not think it is a dealbreaker.

Spanner does not support foreign keys, but they do support table interleaving, which can fill some of the gaps. Table interleaving is also important to ensure that correlated data that is colocated in the same server in the cluster.

I find Spanner an absolute beautiful database, and I recommend people to checkout CockroachDB as well, which is inspired by Spanner.

Would you be alright if the game publishers can publish guidelines for what is acceptable? Much like StarCraft, I think there would be interesting competitions and challenges for people to develop AI for the game. There could also be challe

I have seen plenty of local-machine fast key-value stores, such as LevelDB (By Google), or RocksDB (By Facebook), but I have a hard time imagining what they are for. What are the use cases for such a library?

Even in the coast of large cities, like NYC or Boston. The real state cost of having a data center in those regions are high, but it would be much cheaper to just hide your servers underwater, near where your users are.

Here is some simple documentation on how it is done in C#: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.data.sqlclie... It is slightly verbose, but I find it immensively valuable. No ORM required.

Talking about an easy experience for failover, and horizontally scaling, I recommend taking a look at MemSQL or NuoDB. I think MemSQL did a really nice job in creating a fast bare-bone SQL solution, with an easy to use management interface.

I have a curiosity: Some new SQL technologies, such as NuoDB, or MemSQL, chose to implement horizontal scaling by separating the data storage and transaction processing machines. I find this awesome because the data storage can scale indepe

I have been curious to ask someone who is knowledgeable about databases/MySQL: Spanner has a feature for creating interleaved tables, which helps data locality when performing joins on a distributed database. [1] Is this an important f
