There are people who actually do that because otherwise they get an inferior version of a website even though it works perfectly fine on Firefox as well.

It heavily makes heavy use of parallelism and the GPU which increases the responsiveness. It's also uses Rust as a programming language instead of C++ which will prevent a whole category of bugs like buffer overflows and use after free

Perhaps he means a similar thing to what they did to Microsoft by forcing them to make it possible to choose a different browser when installing Windows.

Add-ons will still work, but only the new WebExtensions. In Firefox 57 XUL extensions will stop working so Mozilla can finally start doing work on the internals of Firefox. Plugins like Java applets and Silverlight stopped working in Firefo

Even on an iGPU you should see improvements since by offloading things to that GPU the CPU will have time to do other things.

Because Chrome 56 doesn't support CSS Grid. It's really new.

Though I'm not completely sure which one is older, MCServer was closed source for a while, so there are no commits before that time.
