Even one of their few products useful to sole traders and very small SMBs, VirtualBox, is impossible to purchase in individual license (in the UK at least). They're almost openly hostile to anything smaller than Enterprise.

If they are buying the perpetual license and hiring the ARM expertise anyway, why not just get the company, which also includes giving nVidia majority control of the ARM roadmap as well. You get the people who literally wrote the book on mo

There are advantages to this, but do note that earlier core i* chips had earlier versions of QuickSync that work, it just wasn't as good as new versions (5th gen and newer). Plex can use nVidia cards for hardware acceleration for encod

Noise can be lowered cheaply on adapted laptops with a little work. Re-paste, cut out the fan grill plastic, keep the HSF assembly clean and fluff-free, run the fans slower. Keep the unit elevated on feet. Replace the fan with a Noctua-type

There was some great discussion on the Show HN for the similar project TinyPilot: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23927380 It uses a Can'tLink: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=daS5RHVAl2U

I found its spiritual predecessors, the Turtle and the Roamer, and the programming language LOGO, to be helpful in learning maths and programming at an early age. I then moved to BASIC. Then Pascal, then Delphi. YMMV, but ask geeks who grew

Whoever decided to call it a "Brick Top" presumably didn't watch Guy Ritchie's masterpiece Snatch. Probably not something you want the kids Googling as understandably, the top results are Alan Ford's character. >

This is the gateway, not the destination. It's a low-cost piece of kit that removes a potential barrier to entry. I can't tell most of my mates to build a robot for their kid to learn with. I can't support one I built myself.

That's what I'm thinking, or worst case, one that communicated via USB to TTL adaptors. Or an ESP-based board that connects over WiFi. Or BT-enabled board. Combined with a HDMI switch, you could then control multiple devices with

More likely the lack of OTG being an issue, as elsewhere in the comments the author showed the CPU usage of the Pi 4. It's not even making a dent. It's super low overhead. I'd be surprised if it maxed out a 3B.

The immediate issue would be the Pi Zero W only has one usable (micro)USB port, the other port is Power In only. If you run it for OTG, you can't use it for the dongle. There would be ways around this though, perhaps using a cheap micr

A horrible way would be to set the target to power on after power loss. Plug the target into a WiFi-controlled smart plug, like the Belkin Wemo. In the event of catastrophic hard lock, power cycle it at the wall. A better way would be a rel

Alternatively, just use a microcontroller for the USB HID stuff, and talk to it via BT/WiFi/40-pin header.

I think this may largely be a non-issue by the time it rolls around, as while software emulation of x86_64 might prove tricky, there's one thing that runs x86_64 really well. Actual x86_64 chips. This is what they used way back in the

Dunno about Warzone, but CS:GO, League of Legends, Valorant and Overwatch will all run fine on this box. And right now, in the UK at least, console prices are mental. This would be cheaper than a PS4.
