I have been a Windows user since I started using computers. I am thinking of purchasing a Macbook Air. As a young programmer (going into fifth year of college), would anyone recommend this laptop?

I think this is true...to an extent. Facebook is possibly "the best internet business of the decade", but not just because of the idea, but also because of the way it was executed. At least, that's how I see it.

Okay, thanks. What about non-Googlers? I feel like there would have to be some sort of algorithm that did it for you, what with how many people use Googles' services.

I use Dropbox for everything as I use several different computers (the computer lab at university, work, Windows 7 on my laptop, Ubuntu on my laptop). I cannot see myself without this service...but this is ridiculous. I am seriously conside

As a Computer Science student in a state University, this is very cool. I would love to take a class like this.

First of all, this is awesome. Thank you! Secondly, I am reading through this and came across this: 14. Should I still be a programmer? "I lack the fundamentals of Computer Science, the things every programmer should know: Algo's, Data S

I found the apk on an Android blog I follow (Droid Life). Side-loaded it onto my phone.

I want to point out that it is running on certain rooted devices as well. I am running CyanogenMod 7.0.3 (with Android 2.3.3) on the Original Droid and it runs fine.

I could not agree more. That's one thing that I absolutely cannot stand. I understand the need/desire to get to the market first, but an unfinished product is never a good thing.

I don't see how this "really isn't anything". The speeds at Google are crazy fast in terms of the average high speed. For example, my speedtest.net results are 20 Mbps. The link you posted is just another example of how fast these companies

I actually used it to find this great place in Miami for the next week. While I haven't actually seen the place yet, the service has been great (and cheap!). My host has been very responsive and seems very nice. So, my pre-trip judgement so

I don't quite like the hitting Enter to post. Though, I can deal with that. I do, however, like how we can essentially edit our posts. That was something that always frustrated me with Facebook comments.

I just want to say that this is a very cool idea, and I have found it as addicting as Pokemon was, haha. Thanks for bringing me back to my youth.

I am a college student who is extremely interested in startups and would like to work at one when I graduate. Further on down the line, I would like to start one as well.

I'm 21 and will graduate with a degree in CS at the end of the year. I'm fairly new to the HN community (127 days to be exact!) and just wish I had found this a little earlier on in my college career.

I have and I will again. I just spent $6 on an app called Tasker (great app). I like supporting the developers who make my experience on my phone better.

Today was a huge day for Android news. First the official release of the Android 2.3 SDK, announcement of the Nexus S and now this? The brief preview of the Honeycomb UI was very nice.

As others have been saying, you don't need school. There have been plenty of successful business people who dropped out of school, or just never went to college in the first place. I would suggest going to school, however. Not only is it in

Wow, these stories about the horrors of GAE are a little bit scary for me. I was starting to develop a project with a friend in our spare time, and we decided to go with GAE. We've only gotten as far as the end of the tutorial and are readi
