Is that an EU thing? In the US you can buy as many $500 visa cards as you want at any grocery store with no ID. You may need a manager's override if you're buying over $10,000 but that's just to verify that you're not fa

I saw that thread and could not relate. Both my desktop (5800x3d/64GB/4090/4K120) and laptop (M2 Pro/32GB/3K120) are just as snappy as that 600MHz machine. More importantly, my machines stay snappy under more demand

Except people really do internalize lag as "normal behavior". Back when PC monitors were stuck at 60Hz, people would unironically claim that "the human eye can't see more than 60 fps". Of course they changed their t

People have tried, but all the local minimums perform about the same so there's no point trying to find a global minimum. A much better strategy is to train multiple models and use all of them at inference time to score better

If you have high end monitors (4K 120Hz or 6K 60Hz), each monitor will use up all the bandwidth so using one cable for multiple monitors is a nonstarter. IIRC there's a way around this limitation with DSC and thunderbolt docks, but it&

Naw it's because >=40G Ethernet never saw much consumer adoption. QSFP DACs and optics are also kinda bulky by consumer standards so a lot of people would want a new connector. Even LC connectors would be too large for laptops.

That would suck. I'd need at least 4 coax cables for each monitor. Btw DP cables are often twinax and eDP cables are often microcoax. In a just, and virtuous world we'd all be using cheap SMF cables with LC connectors
