You are describing a particular way of creating a UUID ("Version 1"). Another method, "Version 4", is simply a 122-bit random number.

I'm not sure where you are looking but there are Australian VPS providers with comparable pricing to overseas vendors. A$20 will get you 2GB memory easily enough.

In general enterprise SSDs are not using SAS, they are either NVME or SATA. For example, intel's datacenter range https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/au/en/solid-state-driv... has no SAS drives.

Came here to say the same thing. Learning about Inversion of Control utterly changed how I program on a day-to-day basis. It may not be a language feature, but the things in the article seem rather academic by comparison.
