The vector map demo on the page has a serious issue with street names not showing up until you zoom way in, so far in that you can't see the context of the street anymore. I assume this is for performance purposes, but it makes the map

I believe that a large factor in how it works has to do with the average karma score of the voters. (Visible on your profile page). From what I have been able to determine the higher your average score the more weight your votes have, and t

Awesome concept. I definitely want to try some of the recipes. There is more behind "behind the scenes" information about how Watson's recipe algorithms work on the IBM website: http://www.ibm.com/smarterplane

Many of the developers in this community don't care that much about Agile development as a concept, because we are startup devs that prefer to work in a company that only has 3-5 devs total and doesn't need a fancy named system to

This comment from another HN poster does a good job of describing the difference between components in React and "components" in Ember and Backbone: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7738511 Long story short, R

That is pretty interesting. So using Fora you can jumpstart a new app by defining all your data models, and then select a bunch of components to build a skeleton view that makes use of those models? If so this will be very useful, especiall

The best interface for a react UI component repository would be something that had information like: * A picture of what the component looks like * How large the component is in KB * Which CSS frameworks it requires or support

I really like the core concepts of React, especially the way it is designed to help you organize your code into reusable components. I think the key to making React take off is building a centralized repository for components that are open

The key to fast startup development is packages. They are also a great tool to learn a language quickly. My personal technique is: 1) Type into Google: "Package manager for Ruby/Nodejs/PHP/Python/etc" 2) Find a

Let me switch this around and ask why have user names at all? Most sites these days allow you to log in with your email address as your "username". At that point you should be able to choose whatever you want as your display name.
