1. You're wrong 2. You're probably right (that the wages include a lot of tech support, not specifically software developers) Anyone who thinks money is made through stock in this industry is going to end up poor.

Interview, get ridiculously low offer, counter offer with something reasonable. Repeat until someone accepts your counter. With so many jobs out there, you should be able to get several interviews per weeks. Someone somewhere is going to f

I'm sorry this is only for women and their guests. The Boston software scene needs more gatherings like this in general. I see meetups and talks in other cities all the time, and very few in Boston.

I can't believe their solution is to not run an online multiplayer game. That's the ONLY kind of game you can assure 100% payment for. They just fail at development. This is a known and solved problem. Look at WoW. You have to log in with a

Sorry, but the original poster made a huge mistake. The only part of his reasoning that makes sense is the part about the guy only wanting to work on one thing. That is definitely unacceptable, but it is unacceptable at any programming job

No android app at launch is dumb. You're losing half your potential audience.... and honestly, that's the half that's more likely to use alternative payment schemes. Even Paypal is too new for a lot of my iPhone wielding aunts and uncles

Only old people use checks, or when you need to send money through the mail (which is almost never). It can be handy to be able to give someone an amount of money that isn't limited by the amount of cash you have on hand, and without requir

#1 - don't watch TV. At all. Believe me, after the first week or so, you won't miss it. I haven't had cable since my 15 month old was born, and I don't miss it at all. Yes, that means if you're a sports fan, you won't get to watch 8 hours o

If the keys were well controlled, you wouldn't have to worry about plaintext passwords in the DB either. But passwords get leaked all the time. If the key is sitting somewhere locally, when they break in to steal the passwords, they can s

Whose brilliant idea was it to MAKE THE MENUS SHOUT AT YOU? Glad to see there's a registry key to fix that... but still, when did Microsoft start listening to my great aunt Gertrude about proper capitalization? Also, I agree, the reviews a
