You didn't really say why you think Go is a bad choice. I think there are a lot of things Go has going for it, including clarity, productivity, native cross platform support, and a best of both worlds static typing system with implici

One reason why TDD is better than writing unit tests after development is because then the tests actually get written. Whereas, if you wait to write them after the code, they often get lost in the pressure to deliver the feature and/o

unit tests make sure that what you think the code does is what it is actually doing. This is great for catching corner cases that you might not always test in a live test... or testing code that isn't yet called in live use. It also

LastPass has a number of features that make it more secure than you think, without having to type in the master password every time. You can tell it to trust specific machines (like your home desktop) that are highly unlikely to be compromi

So... you have the right idea, but your statement about passing is technically wrong. Everything in Go is passed by copying its value. However, slices, maps, channels, and interfaces all have small values, which are just a pointer and some

So.... spend 5 bucks a month and get a real backup service? I get that it's underhanded for Microsoft to call this backup when it's just sync.... but honestly, for 99% of people, that's better than the nothing they have now.

You obviously don't have kids. Also, the article said 92% of those that got measles were unvaccinated, meaning 8% had been vaccinated. And it's not just newborns... 40% of kids under 5 who get measles need to be hospitalized. Fina

I had the same problem. Here's my suggestion, which worked out pretty well for me: pick a small, well-defined project, and code the hell out of it. It doesn't have to do a lot, it just has to be an example of your best work. Try r

The problem is that a lot of us have lives outside of work, and work is proprietary software. I hit this problem in my latest job search. I had a limited presence on github and a rarely updated blog... if you'd asked me 4 years ago, I&

Please only do this if you're fresh out of college (or otherwise new to interviewing for tech jobs). Interviewing candidates is hard enough on companies without spending time on people who don't even want the job.

The point of Ubuntu is to bring Linux to the masses. People bring up Unity like it's hurting Ubuntu... and I don't think it is. It doesn't hurt the average non-techie's perception, and techies can install KDE or whatever

I think it's funny when people complain about unity and how users hate it. The only users that even know what it is are the hardcore linux geeks. I used ubuntu back in the day (2006-ish) and moved off Linux because it was too much of a

Somewhere there has to be a check to see if the person with that id exists, and if so, change its phone number. It could be a SQL statement running in the db, it could be a null check, or a try/catch or it could be inside data_source
