They mentioned pretty explosive growth so 300GB today may be 3TB next month and 100TB in a few years.

We switched to Mention.net a few months ago after Alerts stopped sending alerts. We used to get hundreds of hits per month and now it's about 1 per month. Mention.net returns everything and more.

Less bling and more function for us. We use Librato Metrics to report on anything that moves. It makes it very easy to pick our aberrations and monitor trends.

If it "will soon be open sourced" what is it if it's not "closed source"? Whilst it's not closed source in the traditional sense, it very much exists (there's no doubt about this) and isn't available to the general population so therefore,

But that is exactly the point - this patch isn't open source (at the moment). It's closed source and is being given to preferred "customers". If it was really open source then we wouldn't have this problem. I'm not an expert in this field

Why would a company agree to be "IPO'd" for such a low price? Doesn't the company and its shareholders need to accept some blame here? Fair enough that the bankers may have nefarious intent and they shouldn't get away with it but agreeing t

Are you sure this isn't just to introduce some artificial delay to make it seem like it is "processing"? Imagine a slot machine that gave you a result in 10ms as opposed to rolling around for effect.

Nope - everything comes back to advertisers (well, actually, money). If Google could make more money by not offering services do you think they would? Of course they would.

'You're right in that Google isn't working in your best interest, they're working towards the interest of all of their users.' ..where of course "their users" are actually their advertisers and not mom and pop.

"WTF is a "natural gender split"?" When I said "natural gender split" I meant the real gender split amongst the population of capable speakers and not the wider (world) population.

My definition of "best person" has nothing to do with gender. This article is suggesting getting a gender balance is a win when selecting people to speak.

Selecting the best person for the job isn't discrimination but IMHO, celebrating a 50/50 split is discrimination if that isn't the natural gender split.

"She got the ratio she wanted" That's my issue - the ratio she wanted just perpetuates this gender discrimination. Unless the gender ratio of expert speakers in this industry is somehow exactly 50/50, she has discriminated against one gen

“get as many women on stage as I possibly could.” Isn't enforcing a gender ratio just more gender discrimination? How is "we need more $x" any less discriminating than "we need less $y"? You are just discriminating against the other gender.
