They've been on this road since at least Windows 8, long before AI.

They already said there won't be a successor until a significantly more powerful and power-efficient SoC than what they are currently using is available.

Steam Deck uses them the same way and it seems to work fine.

I mean if it requires a modern GPU, that leaves a ton of perfectly working older hardware out in the dust, even those with a GPU if they don't support modern APIs. That's a huge downside when the competing toolkits run just fine o

Even a Steam Deck is overkill for a game like this. This is NES-levels of graphics.

Does it work without a modern GPU?

There has to be a reason when 99% of GUI apps don't support it.

That has always been the trend in the rust ecosystem. It's not a new thing.

Is it possible to apply some of the settings like autoindent or line numbers only when editing source code? In other words, does it have different modes like emacs?

No, for VGA it was definitely 70Hz, or 60Hz for the 640x480 mode but few games used that.

I don't know about OpenWatcom but I used the original Watcom on my old 286 just fine. Even the Windows 3.1 IDE ran fine on it IIRC.

The typical 320x200 mode that games used back then ran at 70Hz.

Not true. For example most Linux distributions have dropped 32-bit x86 and/or ARM support and I think it's only a matter of time before the Linux kernel follows suit.
