Your comment reminds me of when a friend was watching me play counter strike 1.6 and said “this game looks so easy, just point at the enemies’ heads and left click?”

Not unless agent increases in capability faster than it compiles debt in the codebase! There has to be some kind of theorem in here, since agent actions (including debt generating ones), are training data for future agents.

I think it’s rational to lean more utilitarian if you’re administering a city, state or country.

This project falls into the classic "More" trap. Agents are fast at creating code so let's make them even faster (more). However any rational observer can see that the bottlenecks for throughput are no longer at this segment

If a child rapist can become president with the support of the highest court in the country, and repeatedly abuse his position to indict his political enemies while enriching himself, truly all is well in the land of the free.

I firmly believe it was Murdoch’s plan to delay FTTP NBN because he could see it would scuttle his Fox empire preemptively.

I understand your point and generally agree. But I do see some exceptions like the Railway networks (usually a natural monopoly) in Japan being successfully privatized between so many different companies with their own parallel train lines.

Having an ADR and opinionated policies in our Django codebase has helped maintain quality despite extensive use of LLMs to generate code. It also helps that more effort has shifted to code review and we also use AI tools to help review PRs.

Interesting perspective, thanks for sharing. I don’t know where either road (America’s approach vs China’s) will lead. I do think suppressing desires in a society is likely to lead unhealthy outcomes, but perhaps there’s a balance.

I expect he’ll be justified and vindicated in history if we end up in a global totalitarian prison planet scenario that seems to become more possible as the tech reaches that capability. “For the safety of the children” ofcourse.
