> “Betting” on crypto is driving up the price and crowding out real use cases. Additionally, that betting has cascading effects of GPU markets, and uses a small nation's worth of electricity every year. If that bet was contained onl

I agree. CIS/FAIR/NumbersUSA have been telling the exact same thing for 30 years now. Why not believe them?

Dust and water issues are present in Arizona too. As someone who did their undergrad engineering in India, I suspect the reason is different - India has no materials science talent. Because there are only a few universities teaching the sub

Same here. One party calls all post 1965 immigrants unwanted and the other doesn't. The choice is made for me

Yeah, this is like HUAC Vol 2. Hopefully, we do not repeat that shameful period again.

Stanford and Berkeley are amazing, Caltech is definitely tier 2, while Harvey Mudd is not even an R2 school

I will take Stanford and the UCs. Every other school in that list comes below the Midwestern powerhouses

Not really. There is a whole wide world outside CS - mechanical, chemical, materials. And while Berkeley, Stanford, UCSB are amazing in them Caltech for example is not and is just over hyped.

The midwest has some of the greatest engineering schools in the nation. I have been beating this drum hoarse for a few years now - but it's true. Specifically, members of the Big 10 conference are probably the best engineering schools

Yep. You don't have to go that far. A decade back it was thought that red meat causes cancer, specifically intestinal cancer. Lots of health guidelines reflected that. It has all fallen apart in the last 2-3 years.

The complexity of modern supply chains is in my opinion the strongest case for government regulations and against a lot of libertarian economic ideas. It is impossible for the end-consumer, and even a lot of producers to know the provenance
