Richard Montañez has all my admiration for what he achieved. This is a beautiful story. Unfortunately, those kinds of stories also play into the narrative: be a good model employee, make sure the floors shine and trust that hard work, and g

What helps me is to walk, instead of sitting in a room. When I walk, my fidgety body is kept busy, and leaves my brain in peace, not even costing any brain-cpu cycles. Then, it is a lot harder to reach to your cellphone when you walk. So it

Maybe you just don't know? The simple fact that some people want to unionize shows your picture may differ from reality. I know some people at lower levels (blurring, moderating) being laid off just before one year just because they do

I may misunderstand the thread, but it looks to me like they don't want to fix it, even though it is the spec, and other browsers do follow it.

Thank you, I will try. I was actually trying to mix web app ( https:// mydomain.com) and connecting to localhost. And yes, a localhost URL in the bar looks ugly... Trade-offs...

I am trying to do this too. But I would like to make it work on MacOS as well. The problem there is Safari does not let you connect to localhost over http. So if Safari is the preferred browser of the user, you need to convince them to chan

Why is the self driving ecosystem trying to solve every driving challenge, which is very hard, rather than focussing on highway driving, ideally reserved lanes, high speed and close cars. And progressively expand those areas "reserved

Most countries on earth don't really play baseball. In those, the huge majority of people have never heard of Babe Ruth.

Because it is part of the game, hate it or love it. English players and fan where pissed, but Maradona got away with it, so respect. All of them would have done the same if they knew they could get away with it. Especially in such a big gam

It depends on the size of the company, what it sells and how, and the revenue targets. I currently do software engineering/dev, account management, sales (sort of), and business management by myself. Small biz, not a startup, profitabl

Quite interesting. I have written software (and still do), that follow those falsehoods. But in many of those projects, it did not matter ultimately. So I am glad I did not sweat over those, and got something up and running, and did not get

Same here. I even know there are 360 degrees in a circle. Took me a while on my small phone to see there was a North, therefore the 0 was not trigonometric on the right. Then I realized that the north was not up. By the time dumb me finally

I am an intermittent developer, because I need to sell, and manage my (small) business too. In my case, using javascript on the front end and PHP in the back, and as a scripting language for servers was frustrating. Function names are alway

Again, people spreading false statistics, maybe to serve the "hero/risk taker" narrative? Yawn. About 50% of businesses close their door in the first 5 years, not 95%. [1] When someone makes such a common huge mistake, I am t

To illustrate the same point differently: if the USA had the same population density as the UK, there would be 2.5 billion people living there, instead of the current 327 million. Math: 327 million US ppl * 274 UK ppl per sq km / 35 US
