I think I understand Uber's stance here. From a business perspective their drivers are all independent contractors. This is an important part of the discussion because if they start telling them what the can and cannot do during their

That explains it; I was completely baffled. I wonder how much of a bidding war there was for this domain.

What I find hard to believe and just realized was that this domain was registered on 10-Jun-2014. Edit: People were first able to register .uk domains last year, and if the .co.uk domain already exists then you must own it in order to regis

A simple DNS configuration would be: An A record * .domain.com -> IP address and in Nginx on the server with that IP address server { listen 80; server_name domain.com *.domain.com;

You're missing something here. The UK is a country that allows second-level domains e.g., co.uk, gov.uk, org.uk as well as just domains ending in .uk. This organizations owns c.uk (so the who-is you should lookup is just c.uk. What I f

I think this is a good demo to share with family and am glad this organization has c.uk. Another more general example to share with family is: http://www2.scotiaonline.scotiabank.com.online.authenticatio... These are both cases

The reason to inconvenience rather than force is users in a rush will pick the worst passwords, even as paid employees where their password is the thing between the outside world and highly confidential stuff.

I agree, truly some of the thrill was conveyed through this post. The organizers of the challenge seem delightfully evil and I imagine it is a blast to organize. The Google Translate deciphering from latin was probably the most amusing part

I'm torn on how I feel about security being a paid feature in this case. Here the onus is being placed on the user, yet many won't be conscious of the choice they're making. The tiff mentioned in the article was interesting

It comes down to the user experience. I see it as analogous in some ways to Apple and iOS who want control over the hardware to ensure a high quality consumer experience. If the user experience is not something to lust after then I don'
