Could you quantify "ugly" and "difficult to use"? I use FogBugz, and while it's not the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, it's far from ugly. But then beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so it's said. I don't find it hard to use at all

You're comparing apples to oranges. You could also say, "Whereas Cocoa is still philosophically crippled by Apple's intent to create a platform for Mac development and not a true cross-platform development platform."

Ultimately everything's a number in a computer, so this is not something only in C. It's just C's low-level nature.

First off, Ayn Rand is dead. She didn't write the article. Second, this is basically an ad hominem argument. I agree Ayn Rand was overrated, but that doesn't mean that this article has some truth to it, despite coming from an objectivist.

Teaching languages are stripped down on purpose, so I don't consider that a valid criticism. Pascal was fine for teaching structured programming in its day.

How did Pascal fail to teach computer programming in the '80's? (While we're at it, how does a programming language teach at all?) My impression is Pascal got replaced by Java in intro to CS courses.

This is a really hard to decipher blob of text. Care to point out some examples of offending entries and interpret what they mean?

Amen. I've settled on Vista as my main OS recently. It's not like I'm some noob. I've used Windows, OS X, and Linux extensively. I understand why others choose differently. I've tried to do RoR on Windows, and it runs like ass. Running poor

Please, elaborate. What wrong reasons is Ruby popular for? What is the foolish philosophy around Ruby?

Yeah, most shows suck. But there are many, many shows on lots of channels. There are shows worth watching, though. There are some TV shows, IMO, that are works of art, rivialing some of the great movies out there.

2 points: 1. the Win32 API is not the only thing to develop on Windows with. Personally, I find C# &.NET to be much more comfortable to program in than Objective-C & Cocoa. 2. There is no silver bullet. Some platforms are better at

Out of curiosity, what replacement to Terminal.app would you recommend? Bonus points if it doesn't involve running X11.

I agree with what you said about about intuitive UIs. Intuitive just means familiar. After enough time, emacs (or vi, or any text edit) will be come familiar, i.e. you won't have to consciously think about using the editor. At that point it

To be pedantic, there is such a thing as an 'inclusive or'. The two options you gave aren't mutually exclusive, so someone could both like the title and watch the video.

I don't think this is an "issue" to Microsoft. I doubt that they want to officially support .NET on more than their own platforms. .NET is becoming more and more tied to Windows anyway, e.g. WPF.

"... it doesn't look native to Windows." Ha! Most Windows apps don't look "native." I don't even know what "native" means, because it seems even Microsoft can't even keep it's apps consistent with each other.
