This is another example of how everything depends on the user. From this comment I can only assume that you code by/for yourself or with very few other people, with which you surely share a lot of time and space which makes communica

That bag of peanuts may have an intrinsic _cost_. But it most certainly does not have an intrinsic value. "value" may be a confusing word here. Starting from "This has a $5 value". Compare to "I value this at $5&

The actual answer, like always is: it depends. If you are working for a startup looking desperately for product market fit, by all means optimize for developer performance! That 11% percent gain is noise if you are in the right product-mar

Yes! And this is also where all the trade-hate comes from. Value is not an inherent property of a product or service, it varies for different people! I trade you a bag of peanuts for $5 iif I value it at less than $5 and you value it at mo

Boss never wants a function, boss wants a solution to a problem, and your job is to know how to express that in functions. If you have the signature, 99% of your job is done. I know you know, I know they know, and I know you know they know

Transpiling will go away when people stop trying to push their own web-breaking language. It wasn't cool for Microsoft to push JScript in the 90s, why is it cool now for it to push TypeScript? And allied with Google, no less!

You're wrong in a very sad way. When you buy something, it's because you value it more than the money you pay for it. When you sell something to somebody, it's because you value it less than the money you get for it. Win-win!

I just tried to think back at how on earth could I have done that without looking it up on the internet. I did it. No doubt about it. Would I be able to do it today? I'm suddenly not happy with this line of thought...

I use cloud IDEs, more for the cloud workspace than for the IDE, I guess. Maybe I could have the same thing with VMs or containers (disclaimer: I've never even set up docker or vagrant), but I still would like to have that in the cloud

Religion is a smoke screen. Does it matter if you chop bits off your kids "because a book told me to" or "because my mom told me to"? All religions are silly ridiculous relics. Let's stop talking about them. The p

I completely agree. It's _vital_ to know what a, b, doSomething and doSomethingElse actually stand for, and what is the context. This is not a technical problem, it's a people problem (like almost all problems). Take this, for e
