You're pretty much on-the-nose. You can always make an active choice as to whether you'll be producing or consuming. With TV, you're guaranteed to be consuming. There is nothing wrong with consuming. Sometimes your brain is fried, and you

The difference in weight is much more than it sounds. Work had issued me a Lenovo Thinkpad T61p with a large extended battery pack to make it last closer to 4 hours. It weighed about 7.5 pounds. After just 15 minutes, my shoulder would be

The place I worked at last year in Boston's Back Bay (finance) upped their internal referral bonus from $5,000 to $10,000. There's been a bit of a tug-of-war between financial companies and Kendall/Central/Harvard Square for a while now. T

I'm a nerd's nerd. After the dot-com bust I used to collect SGI, DEC and Sun hardware. I cut my teeth on a Commodore 64 and also VAX VMS (in a DECNET cluster). I built my own PCs from 1992 through 2007. I work currently as a data wareho

Back in 1999, at the start of my career, I did a bit of "catch all IT" for a company, which included help desk and desktop support. There was one fellow who hemmed and hawed at having to use Windows 2000. He wanted to stick with Windows 95

A lot of that has to do with the fact that people tend to be short sighted. i.e. What can you do for me "right now". They're not as concerned of the benefits over 3 or 6 months -- for example, having a tenant be happier because a work ord
