This should really help with "getting in the door" without relying on a resume. Also builds cred. before the interview. Besides those, getting in front of 100 companies at once should boost your valuation :)

Sorry, It looked pretty good on my windows machine - though totally broken on IE. I'm not a coder or designer, used Themeforrest and a lot of sweat to get the site working. What are your suggestions for fixing the fonts? (dumbed down for a

Sorry about the short notice. We're planning on holding these more often. It may be Hacker Dojo, it may be a spinoff. I'm thinking September though for the next one, depending on how this goes.

Yeah... leave it up to stupid late-night mistakes. Can you believe I programmed this with no javascript experience? (note, I cheated, themeforrest did some of the work and I just REALLY cleaned it up, organized, etc)

We are encouraging companies to bring their engineers and recruiters, so that you can talk to someone who knows what you're saying and talk to someone who can actually continue the hiring process.

We are definitely thinking about that. Already had interest from Microsoft to do one in NYC actually, which means we should have interest from other companies quickly as well.

Well done! I too sit on emails for far too long - making up plenty of reasons not to send. You've inspired me to scour my inbox now

I met Baydin's founder a few months ago, very friendly guy. Their game was quite useful for me (during beta, haven't tried lately) - though if you're a chronic "I'll do this later" emailer, prepare to move out of your comfort zone.

I believe their argument is more on the lines of "why aren't we doing this? It's so damn cheap" Like you said, cost of fuel is a small part of generating energy. Besides, PG&E would mark up for the "privilege" of using their power. ;)

Please link to whatever article this came from - or you accidentally linked to the Craig's homepage (which is back up). Sounds interesting, I'm interested in reading it.

This is fantastic. You just delivered another selling point I hadn't even considered yet for our app (I'd say more about it, but I'd like it to be a little more done for a 'Show HN'). Much thanks!

Haha very true. They have both posted on their news, however, under the root. However I'd like to see the claim backed up.

That article claims 3 deg C. The article just posted claims to have furthered that research to 20 deg C. Amazing how 3 months of research produced such a significant jump.

I've been coming to the dojo for two months, and I have to say - it's been the single most beneficial thing I have done for my startup. Period. People - amazing, helpful, friendly. Not only met a cofounder, also found other developers, foun

I apologize. Fairly new to posting on YC... I saw this and found it interesting, so I thought I'd share. Not cheating - but I'll look for better content next time.

Being that I am just on the other side of your situation: 1. Your concern is not finding a very good hacker who will implement your idea. Your concern is getting your idea nailed down and showing hackers that YOU drive value. (Hackers have

Music execs = idiots. Dear music industry, it's time to pivot your business model. "How can we shift the paradigm back to what it was?" should be "How can we use this new paradigm and make a boatload of cash?" Any startup knows this.

I think it's normal for founders to be clueless when it comes to hiring. I can't answer your question directly, but I had something similar happen recently. For me they over promised and under delivered (no money).

"Chrysler nearly went under in the late 1970s and came back to lead its industry." - Great comment. I thought the article was going to be spot on till I read: "Admit it. You're out of the hardware game." - Missed the boat slightly
