Not to shamelessly plug a YC-funded startup, but with regard to source control, I've found Dropbox ( https://www.dropbox.com/ ) a good solution. Granted, it's more GUI-inclined than SVN, Git, et al. I've read there are CLI interfaces with i

It'll drive you miserable and grouchy if you think of them as petty annoyances. Thinking of them as opportunities for improvement is more healthy.

This is a great example of how the comments on HN are often more useful than the articles themselves. Thanks, everyone.

My current resume: http://evanmeagher.net/resume.pdf Bear in mind that I'm a student and it's targeted toward internship opportunities.

That's a valid argument. If your blog post had mentioned anything nearly as reasonable as what you just typed, this comment thread wouldn't be here.

I'm not sure you can mimic pg's ability to inspire, even in a theatrical setting. That being said, I'm sure it's an enjoyable show, for those who know who he is.

That's odd. It runs just fine for me on Snow Leopard. I still miss Gnome Do + Docky on Linux, though. It's the one instance where an open source Linux app outdoes anything UX- and design-wise on OS X.

That's quite a comprehensive list. Cool to see Screenr on there in addition to Screenflow. Have you tried Google Quick Search Box? ( http://code.google.com/p/qsb-mac/ ) It does all the same things as Quicksilver, but has always seemed snapp

More of an interesting anecdote than evidence of a trend. Between name-dropping Seth Godin and mentioning how he eschewed football, this comes off as a linkbait appeal to the internet design crowd.

Good point. Luddite is the wrong word. I meant to say that there should be some minimum assumed level of expertise of your target market. "Intuitive" is often synonymous with "familiar," and an interface should be able to make some assump

What they should have said was, "Press down the key marked CTRL. While holding it down, press the B key. Now release these keys and press the key marked RETURN." I understand the "where's the 'any key'?" argument, but we shouldn't all be

I can say the same for the University of Washington. A lot of my peers don't know or care much about real-world development, but those of us who realize its importance seek out jobs, research, and internships to fill in the gaps.

Comparing caffeine content in tea vs coffee is a tricky argument to make. The caffeine content in tea varies on many factors, including oxidation level, steep time, and leaf agitation. On average, the amount of theine/caffeine in a cup of t

Cool idea. What's their specific target market? Frequent craigslisters? Drug dealers? I'm a little wary of a point of sale system that could be so easily grabbed and stolen.
