Hmmm. I think replacing your prescription glasses to contact lenses can be a good temporary solution.

I like it. One comment though, I thought the "Type to edit your text" is a textbox. It's because I clicked somewhere in the website and the cursor focus is not in the shirt. :)

Turning the research into a product is the problem. But I admire what Lytro has done. His dissertation turned into a real product. Hmmm. But what do you think about those apps that I mentioned? They have pretty good algorithm inside, but ar

Yes, APIs can change an algorithm into a product. This was done by Diffbot ( http://www.diffbot.com/ ) which presents different text algorithms. I love their API, and currently using it for my thesis.

I think you know the basic of OOP. Try learning an MVC framework. Maybe it's the next thing to do to have a deeper understanding of OOP.

This is very timely. I'm migrating from MySQL to PostgreSQL just to try different technology (DBMS). But I'm wondering, AFAIK, why universities are teaching MySQL rather than Postgres?

Good points! There might be no super programmers, but I think there is still difference to those programmers that have a strong background with Computer Science / Mathematics concepts compared to those who don't. Those have a strong backgro

I used MySQL and I'm trying Postgres out of curiosity too. Django is the MVC framework that I will use. :)

When naming an application I tried doing some wordplay and consider its domain availability. Like my current app, I'm dealing with texts, like web articles. And I'm extracting important sentences in it to serve as its preview. Preview of mo

They say you learn best through experience. I learned CakePHP by coding my thesis with it. Now, I wanted to learn python + postgres by planning to port my thesis to it.

My thesis for both my undergrad and graduate study (currently doing) is about NLP. But I only have little knowledge in Python. Can I still apply? I also live in Asia, is relocation possible?

I also have a pen and notebook. I used it to write algorithms or some ERD that I'm currently doing. Nothing beats thinking with pen and paper.

That's interesting. And might be considered as a paradox. If he isn't smart enough, how can he write a simpler code? Or maybe he's just humble that he's not smart enough.

I agree with #8. Learning a different programming language is not that hard. Because I think most programming language are related with each other. They have the same "structure". Just different in syntax. So if you only one programming lan
