Of course there's still cars. They are just not used exclusively or frequently. If I remember the statistics correctly, in cities trips are made 30-45% by bicycle, 25-40% by public transport and the rest is cars.

Of course there's going to be some level of separation between residential areas and other areas - but contrary to, for example the US, where you have to walk for miles or put your life in danger bicycling between a suburb and the city

I lived there for a year. I think you forget that everyone owns a bicycle, everyone rides their bicycle everywhere, and almost every single street has a separated bicycle lane. There are more bicycle lanes than in any other country on earth

Your service looks very nice and the design is fantastic. Just thought I'd share.

At least we don’t let junior developers with close to zero experience anywhere near production.. I didn’t quite read the part about his experience in the article, I agree firing over that wouldn’t be fair, but that just raises other questio

In this case - seeing how they let them have direct access to production - I agree on the miserable sounding place to work and repeat myself - It’s a miracle nothing happened sooner

Seriously.. also, looking at these code snippets... If someone delivers code that looks like that, especially if intended for a production system, I'm firing immediately. It's a miracle nothing has happened sooner.

GCP (especially Firebase if you’re looking for a simple abstraction layer that feels more Heroku-like) is absolutely phenomenal. If it wasn’t for the legendary bad support and constant Google-typical paranoia of and arbitrariness in shuttin

I love Proton. I use everything, Mail with 5 custom domains attached, VPN, the new Files component is turning out fantastic too, and the mobile apps are rock stable I believe they’re on a fantastic path these days and as soon as the Drive&#

It's supposed to be an easy example of the concept of sharing memory by communicating and has nothing to do with the recommendation to not pass tiny amounts of tasks.

I have not once had to use sync/atomic and I wrote and maintain a massive data aggregation and quantitative algorithm platform 100% in Go at work. Channels in Go are not a function, they are a primitive type. In contrast to semaphore

That was excruciating. Just like the "Oktoberfests" that take place in America. It's a shit-show.
