That comparison doesn't map gracefully though, given that people don't "subscribe passively" to a single email account, and email users don't (outside of mailing lists) generally broadcast.

Yeah, straight-up reposting images in bulk like that is one of those crimes that people do thoughtlessly, but all over the place without even realizing it's a copyright violation, or not even caring that it is one. The bot should be po

I don't agree that that is a rational reaction, but it explains the reaction. Thanks for the explanation. Allows me to know i didn't do anything wrong.

At least people misusing the word "triggered" provide a good signal that they're posting in bad faith. :)

As a Perl developer i mean this literally and transfer it to other languages as well. POD (or a block comment above a function) describes the API and use cases of the function. Inline comments inside the function exist only to provide expla

Comments are not documentation. Documentation explains HOW to use a thing. Good comments explain WHY a thing is strange. Bad comments explain WHAT a thing does and must be made redundant by extracting and naming the thing.

It's sadly how the licensing business works. Although i do 100% blame netflix for calling it a "netflix original" when all they did was buy a license and be sent files they can't touch.

Copyright limits the right to copy a specific expression. Not a similar one, it has to be a specific one. The very fact that the lyrics are completely different should absolutely disqualify this from even remotely touching copyright:

As someone with decent difficulty understanding spoken english, yeah, i do choose netflix over amazon video for that reason as well (no hulu in germany, and often amazon subs have only german subs here). I've poked Netflix again this w

You get extremely lucky then. Violet Evergarden has a hilariously badly subtitled sequence in S1E2 at 7:25. The whole thing is wrong, but in short, she says "you wanted a girl" when she said "your parents wanted a girl"

As far as i understand it a jury is supposed to be composed of one's "peers", but the people the parent describes strike me as way off the american norm.

The chain as i saw it: Jurors are asked if they will treat the word of law enforcement as always true. Jurors are disqualified if they don't say yes. Jurors are sworn, as you say, to tell the truth. Presumable jurors get punished if th

The last time i tried Wire its UX was about as stable as what a 12 year old would cobble together with old ducktape and string. Constantly exhibiting glitches and bugs and lacking even the most basic UI amenities as well as being a heavywei

Wait, really? Jurors have to swear to always treat law enforcement word as true, even if this entirely contradicts physical reality? Do they get punished if they say yes to that and somehow it becomes obvious they're not doing that?

Really depends on the person. I have very small sight problems (+.5/-.75) which don't affect me most of the time, but are a danger in traffic. The doctor that diagnosed that really didn't care to answer any of my questions.

They're not even very good at that. The framerate of the VERY FIRST clip with the statue of liberty at the start of that video is horrendous.

For open source developers logs of private 1:1 discussions are also highly valuable, so this would only be a bandaid.

Also, for those still using IRC, and needing an easy way to get others on it: IrcCloud is an excellent service with a mobile client lightyears beyond any other.

Would've been nice if they hadn't lied about it during the livestream though, but i guess "everybody didn't even know" was exactly the point of why they did that. Big departure from their earlier modus operandi as w
