Citation needed? Are you saying Amazon does Prime Day so people who previously couldn’t afford an air fryer can now afford one? Are you saying Black Friday is actually a massive charity event by companies so people can buy their products? I

Do you remember the command line command to convert 5:30 IST to PDT? Or convert $70 USD to SGD? Or what 17.3 years in seconds is? Or how many days are between 2024-12-30 and 2025-06-17? Raycast can all of do that automatically, and the only

That’s not universally true. I’ve had a better experience with Amazon Q than I’ve had with Cline.

It’s so painful to hear HackerNews talk about visas. It’s pathetic how little people know about the system despite it running a large chunk of the tech industry.

You can’t casually say “AI’s gain personhood.” That is so far out in the future, that’s beyond AGI.

The first iPhone was a hardware engineering marvel, it was leaps and bounds more premium than any phone in that generation. It took other companies years to catch up.

Even if it’s the latter, it doesn’t make sense, because you can just block off time in your calendar as « Focus Time » to work on things. At most companies you can’t see other people’s calendar event names, but even if you can, I highly dou

Designing a distributed scheduler is a solved problem, of course an LLM was able to spit out a solution.

> I loathe AI for what it's doing the job market. To be fair, it's not doing anything to the job market, it's just being used as an excuse. Very few tech jobs have truly been replaced AI, it's just an easy excuse for

This is a really cool website, I know some other commenters were hating on it, but for companies like these, 99% of users are there just to learn about them, not actually buy them.

I may be an idiot - wouldn’t it be cheaper to get rid of the 20% coupon code? And if the retailer REALLY wants to keep the 20% discount for a particular use-case, make it a targeted discount for certain user accounts?

I graduated from Waterloo ECE very recently. It always surprises me how much of a role alcohol used to play in engineering culture at Waterloo. I don’t know when that went away, probably around when Bomber shut down, or when weed was legali

I like how US’s lack of automatic transit visas is being described as a good thing here. It is an absolutely nightmare in practice.

No, Tesla use Pull Requests too. It’s fairly standard GitHub usage, at least within the org I worked at. They also GitHub actions, though obviously the build tools are non-standard.

That’s the most interesting way to warp reality that I’ve seen. Afghanistan won, period. It doesn’t matter how Americans would like to advertise their loss - you didn’t “lose interest”, you lost, abandoned the people who were helping you, a

A government declaring a curfew (for any reason) is a bad thing, IMO, but I may be projecting a bit - how are people from Chile responding? I’m sure they’re not happy about the outage, but does the curfew etc. seem reasonable to them?

Is it really a beautiful system if it involves adding and maintaining a completely unnecessary traffic light? That isn’t free and costs tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars over its lifetime. I’m not saying it’s not worth it, even 1 lif
