Cook hasn't damaged Apple nearly as much as Ballmer hurt MS. During Ballmer's tenure, Microsoft launched the Zune, the various disastrous incarnations of Windows Phone, Windows 8, and the Xbox One (which halved its marketshare vs

I was within two years of the right date on the hippy photo because of the design of the museum direction signs behind them. That clear acrylic and minimal font stuck to a wall style of signage is quite recent.

Before the update, mobile Firefox was so slow for me that using Chrome with no adblocker was a better experience. Now their speeds are about the same. The update was a massive improvement.

"starting in macOS Big Sur 11 beta 6, the operating system enforces that any executable must be signed before it’s allowed to run." This line seems clear that unsigned code is not allowed, although I don't have a Transition K

Apple's next move is to disallow unsigned software entirely, Gatekeeper popup or no. They already announced it for ARM Macs [0]. It currently allows adhoc signatures, but I'd be shocked if that didn't go away in the next coup

Unfortunately, Android, iOS, and MacOS are the alternatives non-technical people look at, and they're all much worse about installing software than Windows.

That statement's a little misleading--they only have ~100 million paid users, for whom one would think they'd prioritize support requests.

Companies aren't, and shouldn't be, superPACs. Getting Coinbase to use green energy is the job of government regulations and incentives, not political crusades from Coinbase's management. If the government isn't doing th

I spend a lot of time teaching non-technical people to use software, and in my experience the two things aren't the same at all. These sorts of users aren't too aware of the invasive aspects of modern programs, but if told, they&#

Devil's advocate: this is true. The people buying this icon pack, and the people who spend time on software customization in general, are a negligible subset of iPhone users. If you're making an app that aims for the lowest common

We're talking about different things. I'm sure the LibreWolf team could develop a browser that meets some specifications and renders some websites some of the time. What they can't build is a Chrome competitor. It would becom

No, it's not. Mozilla has 750 employees (not all of whom work on the browser, but still) and hundreds of millions of dollars and they're constantly struggling to keep up with Chrome. 9 part-time devs cannot do this.
