If we achieve runaway AI, the stock market goes to infinity. So from an expected value standpoint, massive spending on it is worthwhile. Even if the odds are tiny, the payoff warrants a massive bet size.

Yeah, didn't see til after I commented, but this CEO ran this same playbook with New Relic. Layoffs and then sold the company 2 months later. I think Staples is a guy you bring in to sell the company, not run the company.

Yeah doesn't make sense. My guess is they are doing this to prep for an acquisition. Probably by an AI company or Datadog or similar.

Are they doing PRs? Putting their code in git? Is AI deploying it or do they get help with that?

Well it might. If the actual rate is .9x then it matters a lot. Or even if it's like 1.1x, is the cost worth the return?

This is a predictable outcome of what people like Altman are doing, and probably will happen more and more. Altman and co. are massively changing society, putting people out of work, etc. It is systemic violence on a massive scale. Systemic

Isn't learning to use AI just learning how to talk, read, and think coherently? Unless you mean learning to build AI or how it actually works?

There's no way they run out of names for a good while. There's over 50 Toy Story characters at this point.

Also Elixir abstracts even more of the OTP and does some automagical stuff with it. Erlang is more explicit, which is better for learning, IMO.

Government run groceries stores are bad, but government run drug stores are good, I guess. This should be good for Americans, though.

My point is OP is wrong that it doesn't include speech. It includes some speech.

Yeah, the courts don't even have to involved. All you need to do is be charged, and they can revoke the passport, even if charges are later dropped.

No, material support has been ruled to include speech in the past: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/national/2010/06/22/c...

Is it really desirable though? Sure, it might eliminate human error, but it also probably eliminate pilots saving planes. I don't think an autopilot would have put US Airways Flight 1549 into the Hudson.

There's also the timing. Maybe there's something specific about takeoff that makes it more likely for the failure to occur. However, assuming there's not, then the odds of this occuring at takeoff (the worst possible time) in

I guess I would hope it takes more then that to rise to the level of obstruction. Additionally, you have to prove intent, and unless the judge was careless, I doubt they will ever be able to do that. I'd bet the prosecution knows this

There doesn't have to be, it's up to the prosecution to prove the reason was to aid him in avoiding arrest. The judge doesn't have to provide an alternate reason.
