And Amazon has a lot of versions of popular apps with their requirements for Google Play Services patched out as it doesn't appear on FireOS (without a bunch of work by the user).

Chappelle's characterisation of that incident is heavily disputed. There has been a lot of discussion about it. https://twitter.com/LilySimpson1312/status/14484175314300149...

It remains pretty crazy that he made the defenses he did given Netflix have previously pulled episodes of Community for having a joke about how blackface is bad. Doesn't exactly seem consistent other than "we spent a lot" on

Indeed. Unless that is misreported then I don't really think that's going to do Apple much good in the inevitable lawsuit.

I honestly can't fathom for the life of me why taskbar grouping is even the default, or what problem it was supposed to solve. It is a terrible UI pattern.

Nobody sane would, but this taskbar rewrite was started for Windows 10x and that was the modus operandi for it. Then during yet another fundamental internal change in direction it got foisted on the desktop OS, and then they got told to shi

There's so much technical debt and conflicting versioning with AirPlay it's unreal. It's amazing it works at all at this point. It's also why the developer documentation is awful.

Not a public one I can hand out, no. The lack of public transparency around the BRAM rules is also a significant issue imo.

Mastercard's BRAM rules involve blocking quite a lot of things that are legal though - you're not allowed to mention hypnosis, or blood, or vampires in adult content, even in a completely fictional context.

Because the AMP pages are often functionally crippled compared to the real site and require clicks to get off and on to the real web page (see Reddit, The Guardian etc), as well as the negatives of giving Google that level of control.

Question might be if it inspires more blocking elsewhere. It is pretty bad news for AMP that Ampolosion exists. It would be even worse if Samsung noticed that popularity and implemented something similar in their browser, perhaps even by de

You can do EME in iOS Safari now, but it's wonky and not very well implemented and Netflix certainly wouldn't do it by choice. You also can't do downloads in browser.

Netflix serves higher resolution video if the device can protect the video path from screen recording. Desktop Linux can't, so the resolution is limited, but you can therefore screenshot it. (Worth noting this also applies to Chrome on

Are there useful possibilities opened up by increased understanding of how the touch receptors work? I can imagine that our ability to manipulate those more effectively could have a lot of useful applications.

This doesn't seem like a huge surprise. Demand for Chromebooks went through the roof due to children doing remote learning during Covid, and they, by and large, have the Chromebooks they need now, and are beginning to go back to school
