Hit and miss I would say. Budget Sony headphones I bought last year work great with my iPhone. No complaints at all. The Bluetooth stack on my iMac has a bug where it will crash hard after around two weeks of uptime. Very annoying, because

Do you happen to have a source for this comparison? I'm curious to know what the economics of grid scale electricity storage are.

I was mistaken about this apparently. There are tools though, that can discover subdomains using long lists of commonly used names and patterns. Anyways thanks for the correction.

Thanks for submitting this article. I wasn't aware it's so easy to misconfigure the TLS settings of web servers. It might also explain some TLS errors I have encountered in the past in Firefox. It would be super helpful if someone

I was wondering recently if it's better to use wildcard certs because of this. On the other hand, all sub-domains are discoverable through DNS anyways. Does it then make a difference if the sub-domains are logged in the certificate tra

You can check the rated cycle counts for most Macbooks on the following Apple Support page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102888 Most recent Macbooks should last for 1000 full cycles. Though I'm pretty sure you

You can check the cycle count using the System Information app in the power section. Option-click on the Apple logo is a convenient shortcut to open System Information. There is also the third-party Coconut Battery app that gives you other

Neat. A tool like this but for VPN profiles would be nice. I had to manually create them to connect to my internet router. The number of available options is quite intimidating.

Add to that, that you can't upgrade RAM in most Desktop Macs anymore. I want to buy a Mac soon, and I'm really struggling to decide how much RAM I should order. Unfortunately, my budget is limited. If it wasn't, I would proba

Thank you (and all the adjacent comments). I don't really need so much RAM for my regular work. Running the llms locally would only be for fun and experiments. I think 32GB might be the best middle ground for my needs and budget constr

Thank you for this detailed response. I'm not sure if it was clear, but I was going to use just the Apple Silicon CPU/GPU, not an external one from Nvidia. Is there anything useful you can do with 24 or 32GB of RAM with llms? Regu

I don't think we will increasy taxes for electricity. How do you even to that, when most cars are charged at home. The more likely scenario is that governments will impose higher road use charges. That has been a trend anyway in most o

Rare earths are not a major component in car batteries. They are mostly used in the electric motors for the magnets and it's acutally quite easy to replace them. Mining of lithium, copper, nickel, will have to expand in the future. But
