I'm not sure that's correct. See this AP article [1] talking about the national guard troops that were approved and are already in the capitol now. > Because D.C. does not have a governor, the designated commander of the city’s

Where are the police? Is the police force and now the national guard not controlled by the DC Mayor's office? I don't understand how they weather 1000 protests a year in the capitol and weren't prepared for this.

His comment about technology being a long, unbroken chain of abstraction layers changed the way I look at a lot of things in life. Absolutely fascinating interview.

Thanks for this. I'll stop propagating that. What reason does Apple give for not allowing blocking, then?

Did Apple give a reason? Privacy? I could see a privacy case in not letting any and every extension have access to all requests.

Which parts of the Crimean sanctions are normal people most upset about? The ones I'm seeing on the Treasury page target specific individuals and companies. And they're coordinated with Canada and other countries, and the EU.

This behavior shouldn't be praised. Having to go on twitter, get on the front page of HN, and make Github look bad seems like the only way to get help these days.

I think the point is that a "Status Page" should show the accurate, current status of the system. Not a place holder for "we'll fix it later". People look at a status page to know what's happening now .

Can you explain why more is not usually better? I added the 4 lists you recommended to my Pi-Hole, which added a net new 73,253 domains to my Pi-Hole. My total is now close to 2M.

I agree that it's questionable. I commented the same in the thread I linked: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25513161 However, at least for Pi-Hole users, more is usually better, so I added the list to my Pi-Hol

+1 to the second suggestion as a low-effort way to make some headway in staying off blocklists. A place to start might be this large, very popular list that combines a bunch of other lists: https://oisd.nl/ Actual text file

Thanks for posting in this thread. I've read all of your comments. If prison is as horrible as you describe, why do you think it's not much of a deterrent?
