Sounds like bad news for these guys: http://pics.io/ For some reason I'm following their progress for over a month already. Sneaky, their progress bar has gone backwards one time. As if nobody would notice! I wish them all the best though

Is there a way to preorder in order to get into the private beta as well? I wasn't with the Kickstarter crowd. If plugins are as powerful as you say they are, I'm very interested.

I was confused as well. I typed "Austria" since that's the country that I live in. I pressed "enter" too quickly and it brought me to Austin, Texas. It also only has a single match in Austria, which is Hallstatt. I'll tell you exactly how I

You are thinking way too much in terms of programming. What's wrong with global context? Your mind is one huge global context, and it seems to work fine. You fetch stuff all the time from one big pool. Sure, there's hierarchy in there. Just

Maybe a very dumb example: Suppose I get a pointer to an empty byte array. At the very start of the program I had a full byte array. I want to fill my empty array with the stuff I had at the start. But now I have to rewrite my program so th

I believe the next big thing will be time based programming, it's hard to explain because it's something that you only experience for the first few days when you start to learn programming. It feels like a "goto" for the mind: When you firs

You should add mousewheel scrolling of tabs, I'd like that. Also a white theme, because black themes look sort of sketchy at work.

First you are saying c++11 is the far superior option (with that one caveat) and in the last sentence you imply that C would still be faster. Can you clarify? I'll add my opinion too: I think all the readability you can get out of c++, will

That's not the only conclusion, the average technophile user buys a new laptop every ~2 years anyway. When I heard about Chromebooks, I didn't worry about the 2 year limit on them at all. It's like saying "in 2 years you will still be able

Go get a job, a warehouse job will force you to focus on things other than physics but any job is good. Also go to the gym, it won't help with your mind racing per se, but it will make everything else better. I don't want to sound snarky, b

Well apparently everyone thinks this is awesome, so I'll be that guy who is helpful but everybody ignores: There is no point to it, what are you trying to achieve? Make JSON more readable? It's debatable that you achieved it with this, form

I would love all my displays to be e-ink, meaning: My 24inch displays for programming, my phones, everything. Android would need to provide an e-ink mode, but that shouldn't be too hard to do. I honestly don't need that much animation or co

The reason why OpenGL is seen as more unappealing than DirectX is because it is more unappealing. The debugging tools mentioned are bad, much worse than PIX. They do not offer a way to trace back a pixel and see what caused it to be red, or

I think you need to be more direct with what Light Table does. I tried creating a C file and executing it, it prompts me to start a "local client" (whatever that is). Obviously I could be doing more to inform myself but skimming the first

I have two things that would make me very happy in C: Overloadable operators and constructors/destructors. I have not been able to come up with a way to do that yet, but maybe if I change the entire way I write C like you did with the synta

What it would take for me to consider .NET/C# more often, is easier interop with C. I really like the way Golang does it, I know P/Invoke isn't terribly hard, but it's still messy and you have to muck around with attributes and annotations.

What annoys me personally on IE10, is that for some reason it autocorrects some words' first letters into uppercase. I assume it assessed that I'm from a german speaking country, but it does so in all texts, english included.

There is no .NET dependency, there is a CLR dependency. If you have mono installed, you can simply put a line like this in your .bashrc, and use the compiler anywhere: (which I just did) alias more="mono /your/path/to/More.exe"

I have working, tested, high performance software in C. Throwing all that away and taking the risk of having Go underperform or be buggier than my previous solution is just not acceptable.
