I think it's technically more correct to say that focus is limited - not willpower. As long as one has a clear, single goal, you can be motivated 24h a day. But if there are several goals in your life, it will inevitably lead to a dispersal

I assume he means to block all search engines except the big guys: Google, Bing, Yahoo. Anyone else has too little impact. Not sure how one could do that, it's not like a request tells me "hey there, I'm a robot! Let me in?"

Why not? Look at what kind of projects he was doing and you know exactly what kind of person he is. You are what you do.

1. You say your solution is extremely fast. 2. You don't provide benchmarks. If your solution is really so fast, then you must be making benchmarks continuously. How else would you know if you are improving and whether you are actually fast

What idea guys don't understand, is that words will never be able to describe the full picture, and if such words existed, no one would read the hundreds or thousands of pages that comprise them.

I respect people that create toy languages. But you are obviously trying to market this language to people with real world projects. The only thing that I'm interested in when I read about a new language are these: 1. How fast is it? 2. How

Let me summarize the article: "Forgetting stuff every now and then isn't that bad." Yes, that is indeed the entire content of the article. I apologize if the article is meant as a joke, I'm not entirely sure either way. This makes me wonder

Okay, I'm going to reach far now: Sorry, but this is blogspam. You have to ask yourself: What is the purpose of this post here? What exactly do you want to achieve by posting it here? The answer is clear, this is posted here solely for gene

Yes, we all just love to see the day when the web solely consists of a few dozen apps in everyone's browser. Buttons have no significant advantage over today's url bars. Pressing a single button, I get all the sites I recently looked at, my

Oh yes, short term it's a little more work. You probably have to write a few tutorials, tidy the codebase up a little more than usual...but in the end, you open source because you want people to do work for you for free. > If you do it

Open source has nothing to do with good will. It is simply a request for help. If you are perfectly fine with your workload, there is no (economical) reason to open source your product.

Sorry, I meant: Why did you decide to go for Mac OS only? I imagine that you could gain a userbase from Linux users who can't natively use the Adobe Suite. It's all web technologies after all, I imagine you could code the frame in Qt.

Surprisingly almost no one cares about performance. When was the last time you have seen a webframework or a database that routinely does performance benchmarks at each iteration? In fact, I don't know any. I was very impressed with the con

Seriously? So now I can't make a tagging feature for my own site..?! What the hell...related question: I don't live in the U.S, does that mean I'm A, fine B, fine as long as my servers are not in the U.S C, not fine in any circumstance

This all sounds a little mysterious to me. Their FAQ promises a lot of weird stuff, like protection against "web software vulnerability", whatever that means. How does CloudFlare achieve "comment spam" protection? They check each and every

I don't have an Android device, can someone explain how Google earns money from Android now? To me this article doesn't make any sense, Android is free for everyone after all. So why would Google care about an expanding ecosystem?

Risk is bad in business, anything unforseeable should be avoided. Do you really want to stake the success of your business on luck?

I have no idea, and that's my point. I think it will have unforseeable effects. Interaction with future business partners, friends, talks with possible employees who read it and decide not to apply. Everything is coloured from now on.

I have no idea why someone would post something like this, and I can only attribute it to complete lack of responsibility and quite frankly: lack of common sense. Do you want your company to fail? Do you want it to perform 2% less than befo

I have read a book on the subject. Look at this code and tell me with a straight face that it's easily readable: https://github.com/jdegoes/blueeyes/blob/master/src/main/sca... The sheer amount of weird language tokens is disturbing.

Scala has to be the worst offender of language complexity I have ever seen. A language isn't supposed to make you feel smart, it's supposed to be easy to read, maintain and write powerful code in. Have you had a look at larger Scala codebas

I don't think CouchApp is a good choice for any target market. Most people eventually need to execute more arbitrary code on the serverside. Theoretically the Wordpress crowd would be a good target, but they don't like to code. You would ne
