Oh, I don't care much for Internet points, but I like being pointed out wrong. I might have been a bit too direct referencing DK, and I think I understand your concerns. I haven't read the original paper, and I'm willing to a

As other commenters have pointed out, those are designated initializers[1], one of my favorite C99 feature. I's also been picked up recently for inclusion into C++20[2]. However, it seems that C++ adds a specific limitation: > all

You're alluding to, without naming it, the "Dunning-Kruger" effect: you need to be knowledgeable enough to determine the complexity of a field. Beginners will often overestimate their ability. https://en.wikipedia.

Higher temps means it will age faster though. I'm not sure of the factor, it's going to be hardware-dependent, so I'm not sure how big of a deal it is.

Use a STUN server to assist with NAT traversal. Some DHT swarms can also assist with that. Or use a VPN or VPN-like network, like TOR, yggdrasil, IPFS p2p, etc. Some are explicitly designed for that kind of use, and can form a mesh network

Right. I'm not suggesting using that directly, or as the only mechanism. Time of flight sensors could be used, for instance: https://hackaday.io/project/47141-sub-mm-accuracy-from-the-v...

This got me wondering: most CNCs and 3D printers use switches for calibration, plus stepper motors for positioning. Has anyone tried to use cameras or a Valve Lighthouse (0.3mm precision), maybe with accelerometers and encoders, for trackin

Another approach would be to integrate Firefox-specific D-Bus proxying inside of waypipe. Have waypipe listen to where Firefox normally does, if one is spawned on the remote host. I can imagine this being useful for more things, like portal

I've been running some tests on my regular server, where it seems that zstd offers better compression ratios than the default lzo-rle. Ratios are currently at 3.7 vs 2.6 according to netdata; I've seen them as far apart as 4 vs 2.

I loathe those "too cheap to be designed for minimum durability" products. However, resistors are usually a lot cheaper than LEDs. Each LED comes with its own resistor on cheap LED strips from china, sometimes resistors are even i

Good point, I hadn't thought of that for this use! An input has a high impedance, which is to say a very large (giga-ohm) resistance to vcc/gnd: very little current will flow trough. Usually it's connected to the gate of a tr

True that: I know very few microcontrolers with overcurrent protection, you usually permanently disable a pin when draining too much current. I would still use a resistor with it, though having the microcontroller supply the current is usua

Putting LEDs in parallel isn't a good idea. Using a resistor for each is better: LEDs are different one from another, so the one with a lower voltage drop will have more current flowing trough it. A lot more, and it will heat more. Luc
