Overgrowth was such an enticing game to play. It didn't have AAA graphics, but its physics were so much more realistic than the games I'm used to that I was sucked in, and it left a strong impression on me. I wish more games were

Well, I guess you can still run Emacs on top of Guix :) I'm being tongue-in-cheek, but Emacs could be considered a graphics toolkit in its own right.

As another commenter pointed out, Lead-Acid batteries are terrible for this. They are fine for backup power supplies that you don't expect to actually use more than a couple of times a year, but discharging them too much will completel

I agree, but comments could also be static. Have a service handle comment submission, regenerate the page a bit later. If displaying to the user is an issue, do it client side. Most websites use a moderation queue anyway. One could even gen

Oh, but it could be improved. Linux can cold boot under 300ms (easier if you control the BIOS and can tune it for speed, like coreboot can), faster if resuming from RAM. That should allow you to perform load-balancing while powering off the

That's true of every np-complete (or similar class) problem: it's easy to verify that a solution work, but hard to find it in the space of possible solutions. Reportedly, quantum computers can help us with some problems of that ki

So EUPL is to AGPL what LGPL is to GPL? To paraphrase, EUPL would be the LGPL of AGPL? LGPL where "distribution" also means "distributing the output trough a webpage". One of the major advantages of LGPL is that users ca

It really depends on your domain. I haven't seen C# a lot, nor python, in some orgs. For some (like me), it's more a superset of C, assembly, bash, maybe lisp, python and matlab. For others, it's going to be JavaScript, PHP,
