I really cannot understand why they do not just run "on-rails" (with some A.I. e-stop) while in the lot. It's an almost-completely controlled environment, so there's not much benefit for training or testing.

I've sometimes used Apple Maps on a desktop browser, with the URL https://maps.apple.com/imagecollection/map?path=anything (hold ctrl while scrolling to zoom) I'm quite glad there's now official support.

It could just be a stop-gap, or a low-risk test. They haven't said that it won't properly come to Android devices - if anything, this shows that there is interest for it.
