I'm missing the one thing that's actually interesting (read hard) How did they collect the generated files? Did they take any precautions in case a worker died while creating a pdf? (Does AMPQ have some sort of transactional semantics? If s

This seems really useful for statically typed languages. Use a code generator and manipulate JSON in a typesafe way. Now if there were such a thing for Scala... (Anyone wanting to work on that?)

I'm not sure if this submission is in the spirit of Hacker News, but nevertheless I'd really like an invite, so here goes: http://mailhide.recaptcha.net/d?k=01PzI8MSz8-zPdE-0Us9sNWQ==... Thanks in advance!

I see. I expected some technical reason, but obviously personal preference is fine too :)

I know it's a controversial question but why do you prefer Clojure over Scala?

I took a really short look at the source and it seems like the only MySQL specific feature is UUID generation (which can be ported to PostgreSQL in no time)

I think you are doing exactly what Lockhart talked about. It doesn't matter what system one needs to memorize (although only knowing the metric system I can imagine the English system being harder to learn) what matters is that students are

There's http://gitcasts.com/posts/railsconf-git-talk It helped me to actually get git (incidentally that's also the talk's title). Don't let the "rails" in the URL mislead you, it's mostly about git and you can easily skip the part about

Be careful not to rewrite history you have already pushed. I always use git rebase --interactive origin/master That only shows me commits that are local.
