Well, from looking at it, it's actually very predictable. Once one arm crosses what I'll call the lower bound (at roughly 80+ degrees from the bar being parallel to the ground), the water empties so rapidly that the tube filling up is not n

I just really liked one of the comments: "(Steve Jobs = Angelina Jolie; Mark Zuckerberg = Scarlett Johansson; who's Paris Hilton?) Well, Paris Hilton is pretty but dumb. So the "wealth anorexia" version would be someone who's insanely rich,

That is basically what happened, but most people considered that a "death" of sorts since you could no longer get it direct from Google. I broke down and bought one w/o a contract literally about a day before they announced it - it's the be

And yes, true. But for end-users that aren't behind a corp firewall / NAT / etc, this is an easy solution that they don't have to worry about. Out of sight, out of mind (CPU cycles) sells, unfortunately.

It isn't software at that point as you would normally think of it - it would be a dedicated hardware piece that simply cross-references signatures with a known detection library and reports to the Intel chip. And you think end users have an

Not necessarily - I think it has the potential to be a very good move for Intel. I thought about my last post more, and I can think of a few applications where it could give Intel some huge advantages. Something that came to mind: We all ag

Well what worries me is mostly "what's going to happen to my job now?" I'm not some higher-up so... outlook isn't great. I've seen enough mergers to know how that usually goes. So! I'm officially bad luck with businesses (was around just as

I guess what I'm now wondering is whether or not something requires a certain drag coefficient to, upon achieving trans-sonic speeds, create a shock wave in the air. Obviously they probably didn't produce a shock wave at absurdly high altit

Pft, the pistons in that car were about as big as a coke can, and there were four of them, plus it had a recirculating exhaust system. It was also mostly made out of aluminium, much to the chagrin of my parents / loved ones.

That's cute - my 1981 Toyota Tercel still gets 35+ mpg. I must disagree. Edit: To clarify, I'm not poking fun at you per se, but the idea that our technology will 'always' trend toward more efficient engines is one that we've pretty much fa

Typically something in the far-upper atmosphere breaks the sound barrier by just falling - not as many molecules to produce drag - but I don't think the sound barrier "breaks" at that altitude for the same reason terminal velocity is greate

Moral of the story: Being a kid = ADHD. Parents need to stop resorting to "parenting in a pill" for their own inadequacies, or pressure by society to "act" on their child being precisely that. That's not to say that ADHD doesn't exist or so

Moral of the story: Google is a bunch of cheeky bastards. It took me a while to understand the reasoning behind that as points on a scale versus actual temperature values ("Celsius degrees" versus "degrees Celsius," respectively). Googling

What is awesome to me is how, presumably surviving the millenia, these will look to generations hundreds or thousands of years later. Will this be our own "Stonehenge?" How long will people someday puzzle over the purpose of these things? P

I likely jumped to those conclusions long, long ago. However, I do like OKC in that they take tons of data and make actual conclusions about it. Regardless of whether or not it's eventually proven wrong, or (as stated above) there are some

Wasn't saying SCII was innnovative in specificity, merely that games that allow sandbox innovation would be more likely to face intense scrutiny as to what they release as any sort of content from any user or otherwise.

Doesn't seem like it - managed services will be handled different ways by different ISPs - which I would argue would allow (eventually) for smaller ISPs to say "well yeah, we offer x, y, and z and AT&T doesn't do that" and have a decent
