When I was younger and played games I always thought that it'd be nice to make a game that isn't about killing, instead it should be about building stuff. I also thought that it'd be nice if it'd be as general as possible, so you can build

A relative recently purchased a Samsung WP7 phone. I was highly skeptical until I spent a few minutes playing around with it. The UX experience (design, speed) was about as smooth as my iPhone, smoother than Android devices I've played with

When I talk about shares/options, I am serious. I am not trying to con you to be a low-paid slave. I want to share our prosperity and success with you when the time comes. Does this mean employees get stock options, or are they promised t

When you write an async. server in C++, where you can't inline functions, you write functions like OnRead(), OnWrite(), etc. Once you get used to it the whole thing ends up fairly easy to read and understand. Eg. https://github.com/scalien

I'm wondering whether it would be possible, with access to Google search data, to statistically find areas ripe for demand harvesting (eg. people search for X and can't find it).

This thread is freaking me out =) So you start a company and you're not supposed to care about money nor buzz? So how do you measure success? The answer for a for-profit company must ultimately be money.

Compiler != IDE. I don't know much about the WYSIWYG parts of VS, I only write textual code. If your machine is too slow, get more RAM and an SSD. It's your daily tool, it's worth the investment. "I don't think the IDE makes a difference" -

I don't know much about current 3D graphics technology, but the fact that they're trying to disrupt it is really cool. They remind me of a crazy inventor, let's hope they got something =)

The value in the Silicon Valley startup model this article seems to miss (and bash) is that it's there. With programs like YC, VC firms and plenty of prior startup examples (data), potential entrepreneurs (and also investors) can get a good

Great post. Calls attention to the importance of having clean, stable commits in the 'master' branch and thus avoiding plain vanilla 'git merge' for 'squash' and 'rebase'. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2427238/in-git-what-is-th...

Yes, the emotional attachment that founders have with their startups is pretty crazy. I think that rational founders learn to normalize it over the years though, at least that's what happened to me. Criticism sucks, but with a company like
