Eventbrite probably wants to sell tickets to every event on the planet [and take a cut]. That doesn't sound so un-sexy from a business perspective. (I don't know anything about their numbers, just saying.)

I have a great time on FB/Messenger. It's a tool, it's up to everybody to use it in a way that is a net positive for them. I have friends/acquintances in 10+ cities, and it's a great way to keep in touch. As you men

People are in charge of their own diet. People are in charge of their own time, how they spend it, on the Internet or offline. Blaming big corporations and capitalism is a sorry excuse for making bad decisions.

Re regulation: I think regulation wouldn't help Snapchat, as any regulation would also apply to them. Actually, you could even argue that it's harder for a small(er) company to comply to regulation. (And btw. regulation is good, a

Based on my brief time at FB (in 2016-2017), FB is not evil. MZ is trying to do the right thing, overall. Using this as a major piece of positioning/propaganda is not going to work for Spiegel. Also, if they ever want to make money, th

SQL is declarative. There's no sense in which functional is higher-order than declarative. When you write map/reduce, you're doing a mix of functional and probably imperative down the line. Putting syntactic sugar aside, it&#

Surely you're joking: not a physics book, it's about Feynman's life, it's a way to get you inspired and into the mindset. Feynman Lectures on Physics: freshman level course that Feynman taught at MIT. Lots of material, w

My initial comment was probably too much gut-reaction. There is good popular science that is useful. For example, maybe the designers of Mario Kart read about QCD and the strong force: this is a weird force, which---unlike electromagnetism

I respect your point of view, but I don't really agree. A popular science understanding of BHs, BB, QM is not really an understanding. It's just some fairy tale level understanding. To be clear, I'm not being elitist, using Q

The reasons RMS has for not liking Github have nothing to do with the recent MS acquisition. If you read into the thread, it's quite non-sensical, RMS eg. says Github is evil because the license picker doesn't push his license str
