Please don't think this a trollish answer but, why not just ask the people behind the various HN apps how they're getting their data.

I wonder how long the no location will last. After all, hitting Alt-1 show current location in google maps in the browser.

In that case, if you can pay bills and live comfortably on whatever they offer, I'd say that experience > $$ earned.

If nothing else, be sure to check out the Ken Perlin's homepage (he's the guy behind the second font). http://mrl.nyu.edu/~perlin/

What city is the company in? More metro = higher cost of living.

This seems to be the most reasonable to me. Likely more towards the lower end. Despite the business the company is in, seems like real-world salaries apply to the other positions.

My work's internet firewall just picked up the "side benefit" of your site and blocked it for the following reason: Your request was denied because of its content categorization: "Proxy Avoidance"

Agreed!!! I was recently heartbroken when, upon receiving my new computer at work, I found that my tried-and-true PS/2 that I had been using for years no longer had a port to connect to. Switching to the new keyboard was not fun.

This is a totally exciting and great idea, but the down side the cynic inside of me sees coming is the spam/ads saying "Work from home as an author and make $$$" and junk Kindle-only books flooding Amazon.

Ah, but what's interesting though is that his @reply counts just as much as yours or mine. To even notice Bill's reply, they'd have to sift through all the @replies that they get every day.

"Discovered" or "finally made public" after 17 years. Security holes are in a lot of things, but I can't believe that this wasn't found sooner by people who would use it for nefarious purposes and kept under wraps.

Naturally, the couch-potato YouTubers will appreciate the features, but assuming that the Apple Tablet "just works" and does what it needs to do with minimal frustration, I don't see why the idea would be so far fetched.

I have to wonder - does the high profile guy like Chris go though the same rigorous Google interview process that they are so famous for or is it a "simply hired" scenario?

Huh! I wonder why they just don't call the Que something like "Nook XL". Seriously, why the two brands?

While a public voting record may work for members of congress, I can't see how that would help. If anything else, I would be strongly discouraged from voting on any submission if it might result in my being judged because of it.
