OpenAI gives an allotment of free daily tokens if you agree to hand over the inputs as training. I’d love a proxy that places the limit just before you exhaust those free tokens, to avoid incurring any expenses for small hobbyist projects.

It used to be simpler. I remember it taking years before Apple finally added this ability to move more than one icon at a time, and it’s a change for the better in my opinion. Using it as a reordering technique is a knock-on effect I’d neve

Those interested in the article may also enjoy reading this one, which really helps to sober your perspective on why one would even go for a CS PhD: “So long, and thanks for the Ph.D.!” a.k.a. “Everything I wanted to know about C.S. graduat

I run TrueNAS Scale at home myself. There’s no need to proactively check in on anything if you’ve set up email alerts. It’s pretty straightforward to give the NAS permission to send you emails in case a drive dies on you rather than failing

Siri has supported an offline subset of commands since iOS 15 came out in 2021. I just tested this with Wi-Fi and cellular data disabled. Calling someone works perfectly and asking to turn Wi-Fi on presents the relevant toggle.

Steam has famously gone on record that they will provide a DRM removal patch for everything they’re legally allowed to, if/when they go under. If they don’t do this and it’s all just lip service, then it makes a strong argument for eth

My washing machine is a "dumb" machine from the '90s. The wash cycles run based on the position of a glorified timer knob: it doesn't have a computer or sensors to detect if it needs extra time aside from the water fill

One of the more interesting cases of sci-fi greebling is in Infinity Chamber. The film was shot on a budget of only $125,000. Most of the movie happens in a single room. To save money, the backdrop used 2 liter soda crates the filmmakers fo
