I would disagree. One of my biggest revelations and improvements to my programming from reading SICP was the concept that as soon as you start to declare functions you are starting to create an abstraction over hte host language and as a r

React is easy to use without understanding the component lifecycle. The penalty is poor performamce rather than a non-functional app. You saw the same thing in the before times with Adobe Flex. So much code from people who had no understand

Everything was being positioned as a Flash killer. It was so all pervasive you didn't have to explicitly say it. HTML5 was flash killer. The way the Javascript standard developed was a Flash killer. Everything was aiming to kill Flash

See the stack overflow answer in my sibling comment - there's a bunch of reasons. One is that the Z80 has a bunch more registers than the 6502, another is that the famed fractional cycle times of the 6502 compared to the z80 are based

This gets repeated a lot by C64 fan boys and yet solid fill 3d games were playable on the Spectrum and not on the C64 because the C64 processor was dog slow. Weird. It's almost like people have taken an extreme edge case example and tr

The AVM was not resource hungry. It was the bad SWFs that ran on it which were resource hungry. Guess what? It is now bad Javascript code that is resource hungry.

CPI in 1947 = 21 CPI in 1972 = 42 25 years to double. CPI in 1980 = 84 18 years to double CPI in 1999 = 168 19 years to double 24 years later is still hasn't doubled again. It's hardly a runaway freight train compared to pre 1971

Tye easy path was benign in Flash! Flash produced elegant, compact output if you executes the basics. The "problem" was that you could fuck up your SWF to incredible degrees and still get something that worked.

Because you have to write more code. If all you have is a single variable that gets updated with no complex logic then writing a reducer seems excessively boilerplatey.

Variable rate plus prepayment penalty is basically criminal and you wouldn't find that in the UK. You would have a variable rate with no repayment fee or a short fixed rate (max of 10 years) with a repayment fee.

Shuffling an array is surprisingly easy to screw up because the "easy obvious" way (for each index in array swap with a random index in the array) doesn't work but superficially will look like it does.
