You do remember Instagram was bought for $1 billion having generated exactly 0 revenue, right?

Very surprising the company didn't end up acquired by a major player, I remember it was all the rage in 2010. Good luck in your future endeavours Ade and team.

No one would likely be able to cram enough code into a single plugin to manage to get "all" your information and still have a functioning plugin in only JavaScript. Does not compute. I don't see the logic in this statement.

This is bad. Facebook doing this can potentially lead other devs following, and if this happens we'll end up in a ecosystem mess where every app does whatever it well pleases.

Very nicely done. I find interesting how an intro of this kind makes clearer information that is already to be found within the site itself; it doesn't create new information, it just forces the user to focus on the different areas of the

"No traffic" is relative; I'd say it easily had somewhere around 50-100k users. This might seem like a lot, but it's sadly peanuts for Google.

Did anyone try to use Pulse ( https://www.pulse.me/ ) as an RSS reader? it's not strictly one, but it might work, I'm thinking about switching to it.

Just for the record, The Old Reader is listed as free, but according to their blog they plan to go freemium eventually.

Not really, if I understand correctly this is capturing only the requests, "caching" them in a way, so when on playback mode if you do an action that fires this request, it's fetched from the recorded store. I think its use is limited to wh

So what if it works, it's not like you are going to have to scale it to millions of users. Just make sure it's firewalled and you're good to go.

This is actually being used to comply with data privacy laws here in Germany, in a way. Right now it's not entirely clear whether it's legal to use these social buttons, so to be on the safe side, many sites opted for this "click to enable"

I guess the social buttons are a little bit like ads on Google: we don't use them, we don't know anybody who uses them, but they are somehow used.

On a semi-related note, it's silly how there isn't a "canonical" StackOverflow-like site for open discussions yet.

Generally speaking when it comes to SE, I've noticed the smaller the site the bigger the tolerance towards discussions, and codereview it's not quite a big community yet.
