You need a developer ID with kext signing ability, not a regular developer ID: https://www.google.com/search?num=30&q=site%3Adeveloper.appl...

That restores some of my faith in humanity, thank you. We'll be looking at the kext today at work, but due to Apple's kext signing requirements I don't know how feasible it is to roll it out.

Thank you. Any particular reason you decided to lead with the exploit and not this patch?

There's writing a nicely worded letter, and sending it in a rose scented envelope. And then there's scribbling a note, tying it to a rock, and throwing it through the window. Telling the world via a fully working exploit causes a

That article is two weeks old. 10.10.5 was released 3 days ago, and the fix is mentioned in the release notes (under dyld): https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205031

As a bare minimum Apple needs a few hours to analyze the bug, and if the fix is straightforward and doesn't cause any regressions the QA process can begin. Getting the it out to the general public in less than a week is extremely unlik

Apple fixes hundreds of vulnerabilities every year, and while they do drop the ball on one or two, those are exceptions, not typical. Reports to product-security@apple.com are responded to by a human within a few hours, and issues are typic

It's interesting that the OS has actually aged pretty well. I went back the other year and wrote a small application in AmigaE, a great little OO language specifically tailored for the M68k, and had a blast . I architectured it to use

Both of which seem like a valid strategy to me. The OS has never guaranteed that a particular URL scheme goes to a particular app, and developers are wrong to assume that it goes to their app and not someone else's. I realize that ther

That paper is rife with confusing or just plain wrong terminology, and the discussion jumps between Android, iOS, and OS X, making it really hard to digest. I think these are the bugs they have discovered, but if anyone could clarify that w

Yes, though few 8-bit CPUs supported 16-bit arithmetic. Most required two 8-bit operations with carry instead, an din that case there's no difference between little and big endianness - in both cases the LSB has to be calculated first.

Portal, like many new-ish 3D games, have a very narrow FOV (in the 60-75 degree range) compared to classic 3D games (90-100). If you have a widescreen monitor (which amazingly wasn't standard when HL2 and Portal were released) try cl_f

When I fall in love with a personal project, it happens to me too. The important factor is that I don't have anyone else to explain myself to, no one blocking my changes, I own the whole project from the bottom all the way to the top -
