You mean, we don’t need GMOs to worry about that? Maybe it’s great if we don’t have to worry about some GMOs in addition to the problems we already have.

The ones funded by Monsanto and Cargill? Don’t you see the problem?

The most common use of the concept GMO exclude simple breeding, which is what we have done for thousands of years. We didn’t use to transfer genes between species or even between kingdoms. I’m not that worried, but I’m not that fast to excl

There’s a lot of trends and over interpreted small studies within popular nutrition science, but the basics are quite solid and quite simple: eat less, eat much more vegetables and fruit. There’s also solid evidence that too much red meat

Why do you think it is the anti-GMO groups and not the other way around? I’m naturally more suspicious of the groups that have the most money invested, in the same way tobacco companies had more investments at stake than medical researchers

Tell that to the company I used to work for that build custom business systems where all business logic and all the crud was written as stored procedures in SQL Server. In particular CRUD maps very nicely to SQL, and there’s no reason to ma

I’m not sure what conclusion we should draw from that isolated fact. It can mean that people are convicted on too weak evidence, and it can mean that people are only put on trial when the evidence already is very strong.

I know. I live in such country. But even here it is better for the prosecutor’s career with many convictions.

Of course prosecutors will favour expert witnesses that will help them get convictions. Why isn’t that obvious?

What is left out from the letter is that the marketing department probably have a say in the design too. Nowadays they probably have tested which geometries that sell best to different target groups. And then we also have the user perspecti

That might be one of many things they spurs innovation, but the neoliberal idea that greed is the only human impulse that matters is false, primitive, and very sad.

Ok. Explain how this works for me. How did I get my well paying job to make it possible to save enough money without being privileged? How did I get a college degree for free? How did I all on my own, without any help or support from rich

In the sense that you need less capital today to be industrious than maybe ever before, you are absolutely right. You don't have to invest a lot of money to build a factory or pay for inventory. But even being in a position like Michae

Oh yes! I’ve from time to time strayed from buying IKEA furniture with the thought that since I can afford it I should get something nicer. But whenever I pay something like 2-3 times as much as I would for some equivalent IKEA piece, the q

In a relational database you would have a CustomerAccount table keeping track of which accounts that belongs to which customers. Customer would not know about Account, and vice versa. And what has reflection to do with this?

For chests of drawers I certainly recommend powered screwdrivers (IKEA sell cheap, and for this particular use, adequate powered screwdrivers). On the other hand, are you assembling some Ivar shells there’s hardly any screws.
