I used to do consulting work for storage vendors and anytime someone would imply a technology was legacy or on the way out they'd bring up how tape and mainframe still made money so nothing old ever dies... To be fair, I suspect some v

The Memoriam albums keep getting better as they go IMO, definitely worth a listen for BT fans. I got a patch from them recently and Karl mailed it himself and sent me a lovely hand written note and a signed poster. What a legend!

I gave a month notice at my old job so I could close out a project for a client before I left. In the end I don't think anyone but the client cared and it meant I had very little time off before the next job started (three days lol). T

I used to throw all cables and adapters in a big cardboard box and let them comingle. That was a disaster, so recently I sorted everything by type and put them in large ziploc bags and put them in storage bins with lids. The bins are not cl

True that a lot of the content is only of historical value, but wouldn't it potentially be in amazon's interest to keep the site going to keep covering new things that amazon is actively selling? They could have just killed off ol

Meanwhile I play all my vinyl through a pair of cranked computer speakers from the early 2000s lol. The pursuit of "highest quality" seems like a good way to take the fun out of music listening.

I agree, I did much ghostwriting to make money in grad school. A lot of the books I worked on for other people were them exploring a new revenue stream and capitalizing on their existing reputation. The words themselves are not really what

For the interview at my current job they didn't even ask for a resume/CV they just had the interviewers take a look at my Linkedin and asked if there was anything not represented on there I wanted them to know about. I barely use

I was a classically trained Oboist as a child and I had some excellent teachers, but they only taught me to play and sight read pieces with technical perfection. Needless to say this was not fun and so I quit halfway through highschool. I e

Microcenter does sell/ship a good chunk of their inventory online so it's an option for people that aren't close to a location. I usually make the trek to my nearest one precisely because I can avoid the issue of counterfeits

As a musician I understand his desire to deliver a finished work that everyone could be happy with even after he was given strong incentives to just bail on it. It is a shame that the OST he wanted to release wasn't able to happen.

I also have an XPS 15 for work and encounter tons of issues with audio devices. I feel somewhat better knowing I'm not the only one. The battery also died completely last week after like 8 months of at home use...

When the jackpot would get really high for the Powerball I'd set a meeting for me and a few coworkers. We'd go across the street to a bodega to get a ticket or two and sit in the park for a bit to talk/argue about what we

As someone who has released music on cassettes recently, the unfortunate part is that few people seem to have cassette decks anymore but many people have low end turntables. I suspect even bad sounding records would sell better than cassett

Audio quality is about what you'd expect from a lathe cut record. That being said, since it is so hard to get vinyl pressed these days I could see a small run of cut singles being something artists could sell as a novelty for die hard
