This alone tells me that they don't know what they are doing. I interviewed for a job using Hacker Rank about 6 months ago. They insisted that I complete their problems. The problems were trivially easy (that's ok, there was a t

I don't know about Canada, but in the USA precedent is only applicable if it's brought up and the judge decides its relevant. In non-contested situations (eg: only the government is before the court, there is no opposition attorne

Take 100 random people from your mall on a saturday-- so just regular people-- how many of them do you think are using gold and silver on a daily basis? IF you answered anything less than 100 you're wrong. First off, how many of them h

And answered.... the answer is that there was no gold, that we had sold germany's gold, and repayment schedule was designed to allow us to print the dollars and buy the gold to send it "back" to germany.

There's a big difference between the two. Gold's price (in a free market, which unfortunately we don't have anymore) is an agreement of market forces-- supply and demand. The Dollar's price comes from government use of f

Why pay 5-10X as much to host on AWS? It's not for free. Hosts have a really nice markup, compared to hosting yourself. Hosts make a lot of sense for small companies who can benefit from the aggregated demand and capital costs being

You forgot to include inflation. This gives you %6 per year. That's great compared to CDs and Bonds but it's not a great return compared to stocks historically. (I think since WWII it was %10 for broader indexes?)

Your statement about salary is right. In early funding the founders and employees should get salary bumps that bring them closer to market rates, depending on the stage of funding. So maybe A&B rounds result in salary bumps. When the co

Boys can be found at any age. The difference between a man and a boy is whether you have a beard. Ok, I'm kidding. Seriously, though, my boss, the CEO of the company I'm a co-founder on, is 25 years younger than me. He's n

It's getting to the point where, when I see a post mortem like this, I am just waiting for the AWS problems. Between this and the downtime that AWS has, I'm kind of amazed that people use it-- you pay too much and you get less. (

Good point. My feeling isn't so much that it exists, but that it's all new and dockery-- and doesn't feel like it's gelled into something really useable yet. And by usable, I mean "usable for non-ops people".
