I'll bet you that the people you've observed live in the US, and we have really crappy beef here.

I don't think the quote is about one-failure-and-done entrepreneurs, I think it's about the dearth of one-success-and-done entrepreneurs

My "breakthrough moment" with Javascript was realizing that I could just treat it like scheme.

Uh, where do you think we can get more mathematical talent from? At the end of the day, there's only so many people at the right end of the bell curve.

Y'know, I'll bet Dropbox is small enough that one engineer with a resignation letter in hand could've reversed this before it was announced publicly.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. One of the villains in this piece is Apple. Many of the people reading this comment are talented engineers. What Apple needs to survive, more than anything, are talented engineers. So don't work

I realize this is mostly irrelevant, but can anyone confirm/deny the Elfman claim? (It occurs to me that you'd have to be a fantastic whistler to manage some of, say, the spiderman score. Also, I'm pretty sure the guy invents percussion

Can we all work on this? Somehow nobody seems to treat writing crappy commits (messages like "work since Tuesday" or "it works now") like they would writing crappy code. Version control is fundamental to our job .

This. I'm having serious difficulty imagining that anyone would object this much if the bar simply hired someone to sit in the corner, count the men and women, and post the numbers on a twitter feed.
